PhD Co-Advisor

Laura Alejandra Chong-Guzmán

Veterinary from the Universidad Veracruzana.  My research project aims to detect spirochetes of zoonotic importance such as Leptospira and Borrelia in Netoropical bats, with the focus of proposing these flying mammals as sentinel elements that would allow us to collect epidemiological data and monitoring the presence of bacterial pathogenic species that put animal and public health at risk.

Master's Advisor

Norberto Alejandro Angel-Ruiz

Biotechnology Engineer from the Autonomous University of Chiapas. I am currently collaborating in studies focused on obtaining bioinsecticides based on entomopathogenic fungi, which are expected to be implemented in the national campaign against fruit flies. My current project is “Bioprospecting of an entomopathogenic fungus and its potential as a biological control of Anastrepha ludens L. (Diptera: Tephritidae)”.

Master's Advisor

Melisa Andrea Castro-Marin

Biologist from the Universidad de Antioquia, Colombia (2022). My  thesis was on the echolocation calls of insectivorous bats in the department of Antioquia, Colombia, where we report 34% of insectivorous bats with the implementation of the passive and active acoustic monitoring methodology. My current project aim to evaluate genetic diversity  of the hematophagous bat, Desmodus rotundus in Mexico.

Advisor

Carlos Ismar Miranda-Caballero

Bachelor of Science (Biology) from the Sciences School, UNAM. His thesis focuses on the detection of Bartonella and Borrelia in a diverse community of bats in southern Mexico, in order to identify which species circulate in the bats community. His main interest is the molecular detection of bacterial and viral zoonotic pathogens, as well as their importance in wildlife health.

Kevin Gabriel Arias Ventura

Bachelor of Science (Biology) from UNAM. He is currently carrying out his undergraduate research focusing on the selection of food resource of medium-sized mammals in two urban protected areas in Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico, where species such as Didelphis marsupialis, Bassariscus astutus, Urocyon cinereoargenteus and Procyon lotor have been recorded.

Advisor

Daniela Segura-Trejo

Bachelor of Science (Biology) from the Sciences School, UNAM. Her research work focuses on understanding how water bodies contaminated with urban waste influence the infection of enteropathogens (Salmonella enterica, Shigella flexneri and Escherichia coli) in bat populations. Her interest is the isolation and culture of enteropathogens in wildlife health.

Co-Advisor

Norma Nohemi Silva Enriquez

Bachelor in Science (Agronomy) from the Agronomy School, Universidad Veracruzana. Her research project seeks to establish a method of horizontal transmission of Beauveria bassiana in Anastrepha ludens (fruit flies), for its implementation in the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in regions of Veracruz, Mexico. His interests focus on the control of insect pests.
